Job Summary:

To perform daily housekeeping functions for dormitories, classrooms, offices and other areas pertaining to the College. Housekeepers work with all service staff employees, and must be able to maintain a working relationship with all employees of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

Verifiable skill or experience in the use of heavy floor equipment required.  Institutional housekeeping experience and the ability to clean with attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates and maintains all cleaning equipment;
  • Strips, wet mops, dust mops, and waxes floors;
  • Washes walls, windows, glass partitions, and blackboards;
  • Maintains and cleans washrooms;
  • Polishes furniture and fixtures;
  • Moves furniture from building to building as needed;
  • Sets up and rearranges rooms for special events/functions;
  • Removes all trash and other rubbish;
  • Maintains recycling equipment;
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpets;
  • Removes and installs curtains/draperies;
  • Receives and stores 55 gallon drums, paper supplies, and other housekeeping supplies;
  • Responsible for assuring that areas found locked on arrival are locked on departure;
  • Responsible for the safekeeping and preservation of housekeeping equipment;
  • Responsible for reporting equipment damaged or lost;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

About the Department:

The Housekeeping Department mission is to provide world class living, learning, and working environment by removing and preventing distractions to enhance both student’s and staff’s Marist College experience.  The department is comprised of 48 Local 200United SEIU employees, 2 Supervisors, and one Associate Director who collaborate as a team to ensure quality cleanliness and top notch housekeeping services.
