Job Summary:

Oversee development and execution of social media platforms to ensure the maximization of creative and effective messaging to targeted audiences.  Develop and execute a clearly defined social media strategy for individual sports and areas within the athletics department.  Work with individual sports and areas within the athletics department to promote and coordinated consistency in social media messaging.  Utilize social media to promote teams, student-athletes and upcoming events. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field.

2-4 years of relevant experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the development and execution of social media platforms to ensure the maximization of creative and effective messaging to targeted audiences.
  • Develop and execute a clearly defined social media strategy for individual sports and areas within the athletics department
  • Work with individual sports and areas within the athletics department to promote and coordinate consistence in social media messaging
  • Utilize social media to promote teams, student athletes and upcoming events.
  • Design graphics for Athletics website, social media and various publications.
  • Organize and maintain sports information and photo archives.
  • Maintain webpages for the department’s official website
  • Serve as the Athletics Department’s liaison to the Center for Sports Communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Communications or related field.

Previous experience in college athletics, strongly preferred

A conference leader in athletic and academic success, the Marist College Department of Athletics sponsors 23 Division I sports that compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the Pioneer Football League (PFL - Football Championship Subdivision). In its history, Marist is the MAAC all-time leader in conference championships and overall Commissioner's Cups, an award that celebrates overall excellence and athletic achievement. The Red Foxes have led the conference in MAAC Academic Honor Roll for 17 straight seasons.

The athletics department is engaged in an athletic/academic partnership to produce varsity athletics competitions on ESPN platforms using students to facilitate these broadcasts. This partnership has yielded expanded coverage for numerous teams, and provided students the tools needed to position themselves for a career in media production upon graduation.
