Job Summary:

Marist College seeks a multi-talented individual for the position of Director of Academic Affairs in the Office of Academic Affairs—the office that oversees the entire academic enterprise at Marist College. The Director is a generalist position that manages a range of diverse projects within the Vice President’s office, especially in the areas of regulatory compliance, academic event coordination, and public relations, depending on the time of year.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience in higher education is required. The Director must possess significant knowledge of and experience with higher education administration and assessment processes. Strong communication skills, including excellent writing skills, a must.

Essential Functions:

Assists the VPAA in advancing policies, procedures, programs, and events that promote academic excellence at Marist College.

Plays a leadership role in the organization and execution of major academic events, such as convocation, commencement, lectures, conferences, symposia, and faculty retreats.

Works with the faculty Assessment Committee in providing leadership and support for college-wide student learning assessment processes. 

Writes and edits applications, publications, reports, correspondence, announcements, and other documents related to Academic Affairs.

Creates content for public relations purposes on behalf of Academic Affairs, ensuring timely, accurate, and salient information aimed at multiple constituents.

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with event planning strongly preferred.

About the Department:

The Office of Academic Affairs supports the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean of the Faculty, who manages the entire academic enterprise at Marist College including more than 6500 total students in seven academic schools. In addition to the VP, the office includes one Associate Vice President, two Associate Deans, and three support staff.
