Marist College Upward Bound Program 

Job Summary: 

Serves as on-site program liaison and coordinates programming at assigned high school(s).  Participates in recruitment, selection, and enrollment of new participants.  Provides services to assigned students, supervises staff, and serves as role model and mentor for participants and staff. Assist with implementation of a 6-week summer residential program. 

Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years related work/equivalent experience. 


Essential Functions: 

  • Plan school year activities off-site (Sept - June), organize tutoring, mentoring, and advisement activities at assigned high school(s) 4-5 days per week including after school, weekend, and/or evenings.

  • Advise students about college, careers, financial aid, and life skills, monitor academic progress and implement interventions as appropriate.    

  • Conduct new student orientation and meetings as needed.  

  • Collaborate with high school personnel to secure facilities, student records, and other resources. 

  • Assist with coordination and implementation of summer residential program at Marist (June-Aug), organize and implement student and staff activities in assigned area, request and reserve necessary campus facilities and resources.

  • Plan and schedule recreational, cultural, college, and/or educational activities and trips for students, chaperone student trips and activities, and arrange for additional volunteer chaperones.

  • Maintain records of program activities, expenses, student contacts, and student progress.  

  • Assist with preparation of reports for the US Department of Education, Marist College, high schools, and other stakeholders.  

  • Assist with recruitment of prospective students.

  • Assisting with management of student and temporary staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Marist Upward Bound Program was founded in 1966. It is a federally funded college preparatory program designed to generate in participants the skills and motivation necessary to persist in completing their secondary education and enter and complete a program of post secondary education.
