Job Summary:

Marist College invites applications for an Assistant Director for International Student Services.  The Assistant Director is responsible for providing academic support, counseling, and advisement for international students.  The Assistant Director's Office is responsible for the orientation program for international students and for coordinating with other support offices on campus. This position will manage the visiting student program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in a Student Affairs setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies.
  • A working knowledge of federal and international laws pertaining to the enrollment of international students, issuance of visas, and institutional compliance.
  • Commitment to student learning and success.
  • Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and coordinate orientation for international undergraduate, graduate, and visiting students.
  • Counsel and advise international students on academic, personal, financial, and career development matters.
  • Advocate on behalf of the international students to the campus community when necessary. 
  • Assist international students in solving problems that are encountered while on campus. 
  • Plan and coordinate academic and cultural initiatives to help international students acclimate to the college and the United States.
  • Assist in the review and screening of student applications and makes recommendations to Admissions.
  • Develop and present developmental and diversity workshops for student groups to assist in building and maintaining a diverse campus environment.

Master’s degree preferred

The International Student Services Department supports all international students and is responsible for their academic records. This department supports the academic records of all Marist students and studying at our branch campus in Italy and Dublin, as well as any students studying for a semester through Marist College’s abroad programs.
