Evening Library Assistant Poughkeepsie, NY
Library Assistants are responsible for a variety of technical and clerical tasks associated with the ordering, cataloging, and processing of materials, as well as other necessary tasks in direct support of the library. Work is performed independently, following a well-defined set of rules and procedures. The library is currently seeking a Library Assistant to fulfill duties primarily associated with Public Services and Circulation. These duties include: covering the circulation supervisor desk, participating in the scheduling and oversight of student employees, overseeing the library during the evenings, managing the closing of the building, and providing good customer service to library patrons including students, faculty, and other members of the Marist community. Physical Effort & Work Environment The work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. Required hours, when vacation and leave time may not be used, include midterm and final exam periods. During these periods the library is open extended hours and the work shifts are until 12:00 am on weekends during midterms and until 2:00 am on weekends during finals.

In addition, the candidate will also teach either an upper-level course with an associated laboratory component in their area of expertise or the senior capping class.
