The Social Work & Sociology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences invites applicants for the position of Program Director for the BS in Social Work & Sociology. This is a full-time faculty position that may be tenure track or term. We will consider ranks including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professional Lecturer. The BSW Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Social Work & Sociology department. They create all class schedules, hire part time faculty, oversee the BSW budget, work in close collaboration with the BSW Coordinator of Field Education, run all department meetings, teach courses, and are primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with our CSWE accreditor. We welcome a leader who embraces the advancement of antiracist and inclusive practices in the classroom and across the curriculum. The position includes a course release for administrative responsibilities.
Assistant Professor of Psychology Poughkeepsie, NY
The psychology department invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology position to begin the fall of 2025. For best consideration, candidates are encouraged to submit their materials early in the fall semester. We welcome candidates with experience in cultural, cross-cultural, or multi-cultural psychology. The psychology department is interested in providing students with classroom and research opportunities to understand how cultural meanings, practices, and institutions influence and reflect individual human identity, psychology, and world view. The psychology department is also interested in providing students with opportunities to understand the application of psychological and behavioral principles to the study of universal and culture-specific phenomena. Priority will be given to candidates who can foster an interdisciplinary, integrative approach to human thought, behavior, and wellbeing at individual, group, and community levels and can model the application of psychological science to advocate for social change/justice. We are excited to announce the opening in fall of 2024 of the fully renovated Dyson building which includes multiple distinct psychology labs. There will be dedicated space for small, medium, and large running rooms; equipment to support investigating areas such as cognitive, biological, social and developmental psychological phenomenon; separate areas for meeting with undergraduate research assistants and much more.
