Job Summary:
|
The Physical Plant at Marist College seeks applicants for a Housekeeper. Housekeepers perform professional custodial duties which include cleaning and routine maintenance of buildings, furniture and fixtures within academic, administrative, and dormitory facilities.
|
Minimum Qualifications:
|
Six months of professional custodial experience.
Must pass a security and background investigation.
Institutional housekeeping experience and the ability to clean with attention to detail.
|
Essential Functions:
|
- Operates and maintains all cleaning equipment
- Strips, wet mops, dust mops, and waxes floors
- Washes walls, windows, glass partitions, and blackboards
- Maintains and cleans washrooms
- Polishes furniture and fixtures
- Moves furniture from building to building as needed
- Sets up and rearranges rooms for special events/functions
- Removes all trash and other rubbish
- Maintains recycling equipment
- Vacuums and shampoos carpets
- Removes and installs curtains/draperies
- Receives and stores 55-gallon drums, paper supplies, and other housekeeping supplies
- Responsible for assuring that areas found locked on arrival are locked on departure
- Responsible for the safekeeping and preservation of housekeeping equipment
- Responsible for reporting equipment damaged or lost
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Preferred Qualifications:
|
Cleaning experience in hospitals, nursing homes, residential housing, hotels, large facility/multi-use buildings, office/conference space and classroom/lecture space. Experience with sustainable practices preferred.
