Job Summary:

Marist College invites applications for an Assistant Director in the School of Professional Programs. The School of Professional Programs offers undergraduate degree completion programs; operationalizes the College’s Summer Pre-College program and houses the Center for Lifetime Study. This position would provide support to various operational areas of the School.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of related work experience

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate the College’s summer and winter sessions
    • Work includes establishing relationships with department chairs from all Schools within Marist, the Registrar’s Office, Student Financial Services, Digital Education, Marketing Communication, and others
    • Process the list of course offerings along with the faculty assigned to teach
    • Assist students, as needed, with the registration process
    • Host summer and winter session meetings with important stakeholders
    • Work with the SPP Administrative Coordinator to process the faculty contracts for all appropriate terms
  • Coordinate Brightspace orientation and other online tools for student success
    • Serve as the initial contact for individuals seeking a non-matriculated status at the College
    • Provide support to non-matriculated students including processing their registration and on-boarding to the College
    • Work closely with the SPP Administrative Coordinator on the admission of non-matriculated students
    • Promote open dialogue with the admissions team on the admission of non-matriculated students
  • Onboard new student to ensure a smooth transition to the College, including working with IT for system access, Card Office for IDs and Security for parking permits, etc.
  • Serve as an academic advisor for students engaged in programs associated with applicable programs
  • Identify the necessary courses needed for the fall and spring terms for online adult students
  • Provide support for the Summer Pre-College program, including but not limited to coordinating Teaching Assistant training and resources, support program directors as needed, assist with check-in and closing activities, and other duties as assigned
  • Coordinate adult academic honors activities including graduation honors, Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society and the adult student support distribution
  • Oversee various myMarist portlets and the area’s website presence
  • Develop and implement a communication plan for adult students, including being present on social media channels
  • Coordinate and participate in virtual orientation, open house events, online information sessions, and in-person individual meetings, as necessary
  • Perform other job-related duties as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and three to five years of higher education experience
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • The position requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities; creativity; analytical and organizational skills

  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • College pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the College.
