Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

Part-time assistant coach position will participate in the preparation, coordination, practice & game plan preparation, and execution of practice plans during the academic year. The position is responsible for the identification, research of, and communication with prospective student athletes during the calendar year. The assistant coach will also assist in the academic, personal, and career mentoring of student-­athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Strong college-level playing skills are required

Essential Functions:

Formulating effective game plans for competition

Conducting individual and small group training sessions. Conducting comprehensive film review from practices and events. Preparing daily team practice plans. Working games and practices

Recruit athletes to Marist College by: Researching tournaments, showcases, high school events, tryouts and other relevant recruiting opportunities of prospective student athletes

Preparing and coordinating the recruiting calendar and accommodations in accordance with the NCAA, MAAC and Institution regulations

Evaluating prospective student athletes by traveling to the tournaments, showcases, high school games, tryouts, and other relevant recruiting opportunities during permissible recruiting periods

Conducting appropriate communication with coaches, prospective student athletes, and parents

Coordinating and executing official and unofficial visits to campus for prospective student athletes and their families

Provide mentoring to student athletes inside and outside of practice on their academic, personal, civic, and career. Assist the Head Coach in developing the game strategy and designing effective and efficient training and practices for both the team and individual student athletes.

Assist in other tasks as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

Preferred Qualifications:

Collegiate women’s tennis coaching experience preferred.

A conference leader in athletic and academic success, the Marist College Department of Athletics sponsors 23 Division I sports that compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the Pioneer Football League (PFL - Football Championship Subdivision). In its history, Marist is the MAAC all-time leader in conference championships and overall Commissioner's Cups, an award that celebrates overall excellence and athletic achievement. The Red Foxes have led the conference in MAAC Academic Honor Roll for 17 straight seasons.

The athletics department is engaged in an athletic/academic partnership to produce varsity athletics competitions on ESPN platforms using students to facilitate these broadcasts. This partnership has yielded expanded coverage for numerous teams, and provided students the tools needed to position themselves for a career in media production upon graduation.
