Job Summary:

Marist College seeks a self-starting, problem-solving Director of Creative Services with a rocket on their back that is filled with creativity. The Director is a solid manager who knows how to build a creative team, can effortlessly juggle left-sided logic and right-sided emotion to develop exceptional and emotion-provoking creative, and knows how to not only brings ideas but how to make them come to life. This role's main responsibility is to manage our creative brand and is responsible for all creative operations, including staff supervision and day-to-day production, to maintain the College's vision and standards of creative excellence. The ideal candidate for this role will have a world-class visual portfolio, proven managerial skills, experience in developing elevated design systems, a strong creative vision, and a collaborative and innovative attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of creative experience in an agency-like setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, graphic design, advertising, or communications preferred and MBA a plus
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Impeccable project management skills, with the ability to lead creative campaigns from conception to launch
  • Expert understanding of customer-centric marketing with a natural curiosity for keeping up with the rapid changes in customer preferences and expectations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an advanced ability to present and communicate new ideas
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and adapts easily to change
  • Able to work under pressure quickly, effectively and efficiently
  • Able to collaborate effectively and build relationships across all functions and levels within the organization

Essential Functions:

  • Bring a positive and can-do approach to solving large, strategic, and complex problems with simple and elegant design solutions that address project goals & requirements
  • Build and inspire a small team of designers while also indirectly managing the brand through other directors on the marketing team and throughout the college
  • Guide the creative development and execution for brand identity, visuals and messaging across all aspects of our brand experiences
  • Elevate the design aesthetic of deliverables while ensuring brand integrity and consistency
  • Develop and maintain strong, effective partnerships, including external vendors and internal teams to actively promote collaboration
  • All other duties as assigned

The Office of College Marketing and Communication serves as the institution’s central hub of content creation and brand management. The office’s mission is to build national awareness of Marist and drive new student enrollment by strengthening the Marist brand through thoughtful storytelling, editorials, videos, photography, and creative visuals.
