Job Summary:

Marist College is searching for a Lecturer in Music to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as maintain a high level of professional activity through research and service.

Minimum Qualifications:

The position requires a Ph.D. in Music or a related field. The successful candidate must have significant experience, including:

  • Teaching at the post-secondary level;
  • Providing administrative direction for academic operations and international program development; and
  • A strong network of professional affiliations and networks in both ethnomusicology and international education.

Essential Functions:

The incumbent is expected to engage in scholarly activity and participate in institutional programs and activities. Courses to be taught include but are not limited to MUS 226: Music Cultures of the World and MUS 393ST: Northern Lights - Norway. Additional courses and co-curricular programming in African, Asian, and Latin American ethnomusicology as well as African drumming ensemble may be required.  

In addition, teaching and research obligations in music, the incumbent will assume administrative responsibility to work with the Dean of International Programs to develop Marist’s international programs and affiliations; enhance Marist’s international presence through curricular and programmatic review; and support the International Programs Office through review of policy and procedure to ensure international standards.
