Job Summary:

The Athletics Department at Marist College invites applications for a part-time, 12-month position as Assistant Volleyball Coach. This position will report to the Head Volleyball Coach. Marist College is an NCAA Division I program and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).  The part-time assistant volleyball coach will participate in the preparation, coordination, and execution of practice plans & game plans. This position assists with travel arrangements and scheduling of officials; is responsible for assisting with recruitment of qualified student-athletes who can compete in a highly selective academic environment.  The assistant volleyball coach assists in the academic, personal, and career mentoring of student-athletes; and assists the head volleyball coach, as assigned, in all facets of the volleyball program.   

Minimum

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s Degree required. 1-3 years’ experience playing college volleyball and/or coaching Division I volleyball.  Knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines required. 

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluation and recruitment of qualified student-athletes with the potential for academic and athletic success
  • Assist with the planning for each volleyball season, including competitive schedule and practices, i.e., scheduling facilities, administration of practice schedule; assist with travel arrangements for away competition, any necessary communication with officials
  • Ensure compliance of the program with all NCAA, MAAC, and Marist College rules, regulations and policies
  • Assist as needed to raise funds to support the volleyball program and Department
  • Annually pass the NCAA off-campus recruiting exam

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree or Master’s Degree preferred. Previous experience, 3-5 years, in Division I college athletics strongly preferred.

Certification in CPR, first aid and AED will be required prior to the completion of probation period.
