Job Summary:

The Department of Fashion at Marist College invites applications for part-time faculty to teach 2 courses in the Spring 2022 semester. We have immediate teaching openings for:

FASH 210 Design Studio Techniques: 

This course is an introduction to professional construction techniques and terminology used in the apparel industry. Hand and machine sewing will be addressed as well as proper use of industrial equipment and tools. Patterns, layout, cutting and creation of first sample spec sheets will also be introduced.

FASH 310 Fashion Apparel Development III:

In this course Students learn design, draping, patternmaking, fitting and construction techniques with a specific concentration. Students will explore technical aspects of apparel pattern drafting and construction to achieve an understanding of the intricacies in these practices.

All instruction takes place in person.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidate will have five years industry experience in their area of expertise, and preferably some teaching experience. A Bachelor's degree is required.

FASH 310 Fashion Apparel Development III:

In this course Students learn design, draping, patternmaking, fitting and construction techniques with a specific concentration. Students will explore technical aspects of apparel pattern drafting and construction to achieve an understanding of the intricacies in these practices.

Successful candidates will develop course materials, assist students as needed, and assess student work within the college’s digital learning platform, iLearn for the Spring 2022 semester. Classes begin January 18th, 2022 and end May 6th, 2022

About the Department and School:

The Fashion Program features a comprehensive curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree for Fashion Merchandising or a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree for Fashion Design. Fashion Merchandising majors may opt for one or more concentrations--Business, Product Development or Fashion Promotion. Fashion Design majors may opt for a minor in Product Development or Merchandising.

Monday 12:30 – 3:15 pm and Thursday 12:30 - 3:15 pm

  • Option to move to course times to:

Monday 8:00 -10:45 am and Thursday 8:00 – 10:45 am

Hours per Week:

Teaching 2.75 hours per week for FASH 210

Teaching 4 hours per week for FASH 310
