Job Summary:

The Department of Biology within the School of Science invite applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Biology for the spring 2023 semester. The Department is specifically searching for qualified individuals to teach General Biology II, a course that covers the scientific method, transmission genetics, basic evolutionary theory, and ecological relationships. This class requires instructors to teach in-person one lecture section (two 75-minute meetings per week) and one associated lab section (one 165-minute meeting per week). In addition, the department is searching for instructors for a course designed for non-science majors, Topics in Biology, which meets in-person for two 75-minute lectures per week. The successful candidates will join a department characterized by a strong sense of community in which students are the central focus and faculty who are both accessible and approachable.

We are seeking adjuncts to teach the below courses:

General Biology II (BIOL 131L)

1) TR 5:00-6:15 PM for lecture & T 6:45-9:30 PM for lab

2) MR 12:30-1:45 PM for lecture & R 3:30-6:15 PM for lab

Topics in Biology course (BIOL 101L)

1) TR 3:30-4:45 PM

2) MR 2:00-3:15 PM

3) MW 5:00-6:15 PM

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include an M.A. or M.S. in Biology or closely related field, strong interest in undergraduate education, a commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching, and interest in working collaboratively with others.

Essential Functions:

The Adjunct Instructors of Biology will teach General Biology II or Topics in Biology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desirable candidates will have prior teaching experience, especially at the college level.
