Job Summary:

The School of Science at Marist College is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, one-year, Visiting Lecturer position in the Department of Biology, beginning August 2023. Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Biology or closely related field
  • Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates and evidence of excellent teaching or potential to develop into an excellent teacher
  • Desire and ability to engage in strategies to promote student success in the life sciences

Essential Functions:

The Biology Department seeks faculty committed to undergraduate teaching excellence at a comprehensive liberal arts institution that supports both liberal arts and professional programs. The primary responsibility for this position is teaching 12 contact hours per week each semester. Minimal service at the departmental level is required. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach introductory courses for biology majors (General Biology I & II), as well as courses that support the College Core (general education) Curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field
  • Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates and evidence of excellent teaching or potential to develop into an excellent teacher
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior college-level teaching experience who are knowledgeable about strategies to improve student success in introductory science courses.

The Biology Department is located in the Allied Health Building, a 58,000 ft2 facility constructed in 2016 for Biology and allied health graduate and undergraduate programs.

The School of Science combines scientific principles with practice through the application of knowledge, scientific literacy, and research.  Students interested in the natural, physical, and health sciences have access to top facilities, as well as opportunities for internships, clinical rotations, and hands-on research.
