Salary/Pay Rate:

$1,167 per 1 credit with upward adjustment for years of service at Marist College. Pay may vary depending on credits pertaining to online, graduate, music, or lab courses.

Job Summary:

The Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Marist College invites applications for part-time faculty for the 2023-2024 academic year. We have immediate teaching opportunities for our Introduction to Philosophy course, and ongoing needs for qualified instructors in the following areas: Ethics, Introduction to Religion, Religion in America, and World Religions.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Religious Studies or a closely related field is required.  Doctorate of ABD preferred.  Previous successful collegiate teaching experience needed.

Essential Functions:

Successful candidates may teach three to nine semester credit hours each semester. Teaching may occur during both the fall and spring semesters. Teaching assignments are for in-person classes held at the Marist campus in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The Philosophy and Religious Studies Department offers majors in philosophy and religious studies as well as minors in each area.  The Department is housed in the School of Liberal Arts which also includes departments in English, history, modern languages, and political science.
