Job Summary:

Contribute as a key change agent in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer and department staff to lead a reimagining of our current purchasing functions, to serve as a center-led resource for the College to realize efficiencies in procurement and purchasing processes. Use data and analysis to provide insight to vendor relationships, assist operational units with RFP best practices and vendor negotiations, and drive down costs through consolidated spend and negotiation of terms. Work closely with leaders across the college to understand sourcing needs, and serve as a resource for RFP development. Work closely with Controller and Accounts Payable to implement a procure-to-pay strategy that better leverages technology and reduces manual processes. Currently, the College’s purchasing card program is also managed through this office. Supervise departmental staff. Direct report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure departments’ seamless processing of purchase orders for essential goods & services with a high level of customer service
  • Work with departments to analyze spend, identify opportunities for savings, and implement RFP best practices
  • Implement and oversee development of a procure-to-pay strategy leveraging technology
  • Work with CFO and other parties to implement a fleet management program
  • Manage College purchasing card program
  • Supervise professional and clerical staff

    • Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist College.
  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • College pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the College.

About the Department/School:

Business Affairs is a dynamic team of collaborative business professionals. The department oversees functions including Accounts Payable, Cashiering, Payroll, Purchasing, Budgeting, Forecasting and Accounting Support, all reporting to the CFO/Vice President of Business Affairs. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and interacts closely with members of the team and professionals from across the Marist College community.
