Marist University (Poughkeepsie, NY) seeks an Assistant Professor of Games and Emerging Media. This role involves teaching courses in the Games & Emerging Media program each semester while maintaining a high level of professional engagement through research and service. The Assistant Professor will specifically prepare teaching outlines detailing the course of study, assign lessons, grade homework and classroom papers, administer tests to assess students' progress, and issue reports to inform students and college administration about the quality of educational achievements attained.

Master’s in Game Design or a related field.

Essential Functions:
|
This role involves teaching courses in the Games & Emerging Media program each semester while maintaining a high level of professional engagement through research and service. The Assistant Professor will specifically prepare teaching outlines detailing the course of study, assign lessons, grade homework and classroom papers, administer tests to assess students' progress, and issue reports to inform students and college administration about the quality of educational achievements attained.
Sample courses include:
“Introduction to Programming; Introduction to Games; The Business of Games; Game Studio; Game Design; and Ethics and Gaming,” along with additional courses that align with academic preparation and the emerging needs of the school.

- Tuition Benefits:
- Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
- University pays 100% tuition only.
- Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.

About the Department/School:
|
The programs of the Department of Art and Digital Media give students the opportunity to develop as artists, designers, digital media creators, programmers, and scholars in facilities that support both traditional media and the latest developments in new media including games and emerging media. The Games & Emerging Media program is shared between the School of Communication and the Arts and the Computer Science and Mathematics schools, but is housed in the Department of Art and Digital Media. The Games & Emerging Media program has been in the Princeton Review Top 50 Undergraduate Games Programs since it began in 2016.
Art and Digital Media is part of the School of Communication and the Arts, which prepares students for careers in communication, media, fashion, and art practices, building valuable skills that complement a foundation in a liberal arts education. With nationally ranked programs and Centers of Excellence in Sports Communication and Social Media, we foster an inclusive and engaged community of industry experts and research faculty dedicated to student success.
