Job Summary:
|
The Director of Spiritual Life and Service is responsible for cultivating the religious and spiritual growth of Marist students and providing opportunities for faith-based service in the local community. The Director will honor the spirit of the founding Marist Brothers’ traditions of education and service to the community, while also honoring the contemporary nonsectarian nature of the institution. The Director will provide support for a diverse student body with varying religious faiths (including those who do not identify religiously). The Director will collaborate with campus partners to design and promote a strong interfaith and ecumenical program that inspires learning and community building across faiths.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
- Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Interfaith Studies or related field
- 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience
|

Essential Functions:
|
- Provide vision and leadership for the department’s initiatives, including but not limited to programs and events, campus traditions, retreats, student groups, community service and other spiritual offerings. Collaborate with campus partners on interfaith efforts to ensure an inclusive religious community and opportunities for dialogue.
- Lead major departmental events such as Giving Tree, Hunger Month, Tree Lighting, and observance of religious holidays.
- Hire, train, and supervise 2 full-time professional staff, 1 part-time Jewish Advisor, 1 administrative assistant, and student employees. Advise student groups.
- Provide direct spiritual counseling to individual students, and cultivate student religious and spiritual growth through departmental groups and retreats. Partner with Counseling Services when grief support is needed in the campus community, and provide guidance during national or global crises that relate to issues of faith.
- Manage all administrative duties connected to a Director of a department, such as budget management, timecards and evaluations, and other university systems.
- Serve as a leader in Student Affairs and meet regularly with other division leaders and the Student Affairs team; serve on university committees as assigned.

- Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.
- 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
- Tuition Benefits:
- Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
- University pays 100% tuition only.
- Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
