Job Summary:

The Physical Plant at Marist University seeks applicants for a Housekeeper. Housekeepers perform professional custodial duties which include cleaning and routine maintenance of buildings, furniture and fixtures within academic, administrative, and dormitory facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Six months of professional custodial experience.
• Institutional housekeeping experience and the ability to clean with attention to detail.

Essential Functions:

• Operates and maintains all cleaning equipment
• Strips, wet mops, dust mops, and waxes floors
• Washes walls, windows, glass partitions, and blackboards
• Maintains and cleans washrooms
• Polishes furniture and fixtures
• Moves furniture from building to building as needed
• Sets up and rearranges rooms for special events/functions
• Removes all trash and other rubbish
• Maintains recycling equipment
• Vacuums and shampoos carpets
• Removes and installs curtains/draperies
• Receives and stores 55-gallon drums, paper supplies, and other housekeeping supplies
• Responsible for assuring that areas found locked on arrival are locked on departure
• Responsible for the safekeeping and preservation of housekeeping equipment
• Responsible for reporting equipment damaged or lost
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Preferred Qualifications:

Cleaning experience in hospitals, nursing homes, residential housing, hotels, large facility/multi-use buildings, office/conference space and classroom/lecture space. Experience with sustainable practices preferred.
