Job Summary:
|
The School of Communication and the Arts at Marist University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Studio Art. The successful candidate must be able to teach a wide range of studio courses (such as Fundamentals of Art and Design, Drawing, Painting and 3D Design).

Minimum Qualifications:
|
- Terminal degree (MFA) in Studio Art.
- At least three years teaching experience in Studio Art at the undergraduate level.
- A professional portfolio demonstrating a high level of artistic achievement and proficiency in the candidate’s area of specialization.

Essential Functions:
|
- Teach a 3-4 course load of 100 – 400 level Studio courses (Fundamentals of Art and Design, Drawing, Painting and 3D design).
- Promote innovation with technology in the Maker Lab and encourage experimentation in creating artwork using any number of traditional and newer processes.
- Conduct research and/or creative work in the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Engage in academic advising, assessment, and service to the institution and to the candidate’s academic discipline/profession.
- Supervise student groups.
- Faculty will be encouraged to teach First Year Seminar Courses.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Prior experience teaching at the college level.
- Experience teaching students with varying levels of artistic experience and technical proficiency.
- Experience mentoring students in artistic development, portfolio preparation, exhibitions, or career pathways.
|

- Tuition Benefits:
- Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
- University pays 100% tuition only.
- Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

About the Department/School:
|
The programs of the Department of Art and Digital Media give students the opportunity to develop as artists, designers, digital media creators, and scholars in facilities that support both traditional media, such as painting and sculpture, and the latest developments in new media. The programs are housed in the newly renovated and expanded Steel Plant, with four state-of-the-art digital labs, new traditional media studios, a Maker Lab equipped with new fabrication machines including 3D printers, large format 2-D printers, and laser cutter, as well as an interior garden with café and gallery that exhibits regional and international artists as well as the work of our students.
The Art and Digital Media Department is part of the School of Communication and the Arts, which prepares students for careers in communication, media, fashion & art practices, building valuable skills that complement a foundation in a liberal arts education. With nationally ranked programs and Centers of Excellence in Sports Communication and social media, we foster an inclusive and engaged community of industry experts and research faculty dedicated to student success.
