Job Summary:
|
Part of a professional team of advisors housed in the School of Communication and the Arts, this position works predominantly with first year-students to set them up for success in their four years at Marist. The Academic Advisor meets regularly with students to develop the semester schedules and four-year course plans to ensure that pathways are chosen by the end of the first year, and academic and proper degree requirements are met. Academic advisors work throughout the academic year, answering student questions as they arise, assist when a student is struggling in a course, and offer insight and guidance on opportunities to pursue internships and study abroad.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience providing academic advising, student support, or related educational support services, preferably in a higher education setting
|
|
Essential Functions:
|
- Meet individually with students in person
- Answer student emails and phone calls
- Consult with SCA Assistant Dean and Department Chairs
- Participate in team, school, and department meetings and attend necessary trainings
- Other duties as assigned

- Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.
- 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
- Tuition Benefits:
- Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
- University pays 100% tuition only.
- Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
