Job Summary:

The psychology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Marist College invites applications for the Internship Coordinator and Professional Lecturer of Psychology to begin the fall of 2024.

This position places all psychology majors at internship sites and serves as the liaison with all site supervisors. They will monitor all students, and serve as the instructor of record for all sections of internship (PSYC487-PSYC490) and will determine grades of Pass or No Credit at the end of each semester. They provide orientation for students, and supervisors as needed, and insure that contracts have been secured with appropriate supervisors. They work to develop new internship opportunities for our students.

We are excited to announce the opening in fall of 2024 of the fully renovated Dyson building which will include multiple distinct psychology labs. There will be dedicated space for small, medium, and large running rooms; equipment to support investigating areas such as cognitive, social and developmental psychological phenomenon; separate areas for meeting with undergraduate research assistants and much more.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in a related field (such as Mental Health Counseling or Social Work). Experience supervising staff or student interns.

Essential Functions:

  • Support students in securing internship placements
  • Serve as liaison with all internship sites, monitoring students and intervening if needed to support student or supervisor needs
  • Provide orientation sessions every semester for students
  • Assign grades at the end of each semester for all psychology internship placements
  • Secure MOUs as needed
  • Maintain and update the website regarding internship
  • Find new internship opportunities
  • Participation in departmental activities

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working as a supervisor in a community agency. Established relationships with a variety of psychology-related organizations. College level teaching experience is preferred.

    • College pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

About the Department/School:

The psychology department is home to 16 full-time faculty as well as several, valued, part-time faculty. The department offers an undergraduate psychology major and minor and supports graduate programs in clinical mental health counseling and school psychology. The department members have expertise in many domains and work together to create a rich curricular experience for students that includes theory, research, and applied fieldwork.
