Job Summary:

The School of Communication and the Arts at Marist College invites applications for a Visiting full-time Professional Lecturer in Fashion, with a desired knowledge in Digital Fashion software for the AY2024. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate courses from introductory to advanced levels of CAD (Computer Assisted Design), PDM (Product Data Management) and CLO 3D software. Additional desired experience with Excel software will be regarded as a plus.

The Marist Fashion Program is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and preparing students to become responsible leaders in the fashion and related industries by fostering a global perspective through inclusion, innovation, and experiential learning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Significant professional industry experience in fashion related technical and aesthetic skills, and the ability to effectively teach Adobe Creative Suite applications and Product Data Management.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach four course sections per semester. Course topics may include the following: Digital Fashion Design I and II, Advanced PDM software. Digital Fashion Design I and II provide creative training to students in their use of Adobe Creative Suite products. Advanced PDM Software familiarizes students on the use of Gerber or other current data management software.
  • Mentor senior capstone thesis projects as appropriate.
  • Meet with students outside of class time for additional instruction as appropriate.
  • Mentor student scholarship competition entries as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or terminal degree in Fashion Related Fields.
  • Three or more years of teaching at the collegiate level with evidence of effective teaching.

    • Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist College.
  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
    • College pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the College.

The Fashion Program at Marist successfully prepares its students to enter the world of fashion and pursue careers in merchandising, planning, product development, retailing, operations, fashion promotion, event production, and a gamut of other employment opportunities.
