Job Summary:

The School of Communication & the Arts seeks an Internship Coordinator to assist in managing a highly successful undergraduate mass media internship program for juniors and seniors. This is a part-time position requiring up to 29 hours per week year-round, with varying schedule demands.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of relevant work experience required. The successful candidate will have exemplary interpersonal and organizational skills, and a demonstrated interest in assisting students.  

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct career counseling sessions, both in groups and with individuals, including review of resumes, cover letters and in preparation for interviewing for internships
  • Screen student screen applicants for appropriate qualifications.
  • Assist the internship director with the credit registration process.
  • Assist the director in researching and securing internship placements.
  • Manage electronic databases and other digital tools to guide students in intern searches.
  • Maintain contacts with students through weekly telephone calls and emails, site visits.
  • Assist the director in developing and organizing social activities for specified groups of students, ie, field trips, etc.  
  • Assist the director in developing and executing marketing materials to promote internships and related career preparation programs.
  • Plan and implement information sessions & orientation programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred. Career counseling experience preferred, but not required. Previous experience working in higher education setting is helpful.
